Policies & Procedures

At Zen Ink, we offer expert body piercing services, prioritizing safety and using only the highest-quality materials and techniques. Please read all of our booking guidelines and studio policies before scheduling your appointment:

Our focus is on customized piercings, with careful attention to designing your body art in a way that is both elegant and precise. We offer a wide selection of premium jewelry, so finding the perfect piece and placement might take some time. As a result, we operate by appointment only and allocate time accordingly. Please note that appointment durations can vary, and wait times are not guaranteed. If you're unsure about your piercing choices, we offer consultations to help you decide! All deposits are strictly for the piercing procedure—jewelry is priced separately. Please be aware that no-shows or failure to cancel an appointment will result in the loss of your deposit. If you have any questions or need clarification, don’t hesitate to contact us via phone or email.

As required by the health department, a valid photo ID must be presented by all clients at the time of their piercing appointment. Without proper identification (see below), your deposit will be forfeited, and your appointment will be canceled. This policy ensures we can continue to provide for our team and offer appointment availability to other clients.

We follow standards set by the Association of Professional Piercers (safepiercing.org), and adhere to strict standards regarding jewelry quality and material safety. Because of this, we do not allow outside jewelry to be used during our procedures.

Valid Identification: All clients must present a valid, government-issued photo ID.

Acceptable forms of ID include: a non-expired state-issued driver’s license, passport, DMV permit (for ages 15 and up), or a current school ID (with photo) for clients aged 7–15. Children aged 7–15 may also present a birth certificate along with a matching parent’s ID. These are the only IDs we can accept—please reach out before your appointment if you have any questions.

For Minors: No one under the age of 13 may enter our studio without an appointment. If you are coming in for your own piercing, please either arrange childcare or bring someone with you to supervise your children. Minors must never be left unattended at the studio, and no minors will be allowed in the piercing area for safety reasons.

**Minors must have a parent present with the parents ID + minors birth certificate/proof of parenthood.**

For guardians, we must have court paperwork.

Age Requirements: We have specific age limits for certain piercings, as follows:

7–12 years: Ear lobe piercings
12+ years: 2nd lobe piercings
13+ years: Simple cartilage (helix) piercings
16+ years: Navel and facial piercings, More advanced cartilage piercings
18+ years: Nipples, genital piercings, and surface piercings

NO PIERCINGS IF:

If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs., If you are ill (i.e., covid, common cold, flu, bronchitis), if you are pregnant.

BOOKINGS/PAPERWORK:

**PLEASE NOTE WHEN BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT: YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE YOUR PAPERWORK FILLED OUT PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME (DAY OF). YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO BRING ANY SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION THAT IS NEEDED (MINORS).

IF THIS IS NOT DONE BY YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME, YOU MAY BE SUBJECT TO NEEDING TO RESCHEDULE AND/OR LOSING YOUR DEPOSIT. WE DO HAVE A VERY FULL PIERCING SCHEDULE, SO EVERYONE HAVING THIS DONE BY THE APPOINTMENT TIME ASSURES OUR DAY FLOWS SMOOTHLY. THANKS!
